Clear Home updates when a journey begins or ends
For mornings or other predictable journeys, that single update can be more useful than repeatedly asking whether the child has left yet.
The Family Map remains available when needed, with battery level and last-update information adding context. GPS, permissions, signal and battery restrictions can still affect background updates.
The departure alert should be read as a location event from the connected phone, not as proof of where the child is heading. A later School or Home alert can provide another useful milestone. Guardian is not an emergency service.
Quick questions
Does a child-left-Home alert tell me where the child is going?
No. It indicates that the connected phone has left the Home safe zone but does not identify or guarantee the next destination.
Do I need to follow the child phone continuously after it leaves Home?
No. Guardian can use later place alerts for familiar milestones, while the Family Map is available when additional context is genuinely needed.
Can background phone restrictions affect the departure notification?
Yes. Location permissions, battery optimisation, connectivity and operating-system restrictions can affect background reporting.
